The third in our trilogy of keynote presentations on the Earth's "Life Pillars" explains why climate-related risks and opportunities should be important considerations for investors with regard to long-term portfolio development.

Atmosphere refers to the various atmospheric layers that envelop the planet and create conditions that are the foundation for life on Earth. The burning of fossil fuels as an energy source has been crucial for economic growth but has also increased the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere, leading to dramatic climate change. Achieving Net Zero Emissions will require renewable energy to be expanded on an unprecedented scale in order to decouple economic growth from carbon emissions.

All three Life Pillars are essential to understanding ESG. We therefore encourage you to take a look at our existing CIO keynote presentations on Land and Ocean as well.
